Sevenmile Lake
Lying to the south of Highway 70 and to the east of Old Military Rd., Sevenmile Lake serenely lies in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Oneida County. To the east of the lake is Haymeadow Flowage that was designated a state natural area in 2007. The land is owned by the U.S. Forestry Service.
The lake is 503 acres and averages 19 feet in depth, with the deepest part of the lake coming in at 43 feet. There is one state-owned boat launch located to the south of Wesley Rd, just off Balsam Road., on the west side of the lake.
Sevenmile Lake is very popular with power sports enthusiasts and there is also fishing for such species as Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Muskellunge (Muskie), Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and Walleye. The DNR classifies it as an A2 Muskie fishing lake.
On a ridge overlooking the lake is the USFS Sevenmile Lake Campground which boasts 27 camping sites, a public beach, fishing, hiking and picnicking. During the winter, 15 miles of ski trails on the Nicolet North trail are maintained and this trail is also used by mountain bikers and hikers during the warmer months.
